Family Therapy

I assist families, parents, carers, and couples to enhance their communication and connection. By focussing on your strengths and adopting a non-judgmental approach, we explore together new perspectives and ways of interacting that can improve everyone's mental health and well-being.

Compassion for others begins with kindness to ourselves

Relationships with loved ones can be challenging, whether it's parenting, caregiving, or being in a romantic relationship. Families and couples often face significant pressure and stress, making it difficult to manage. When relationships are strained, and people feel angry, sad, hurt, or disconnected it can be overwhelming or even feel shameful, but reaching out for support can be stressful too.

At Mindful Psychotherapy, I understand that couples and families are doing their best, and I work to help them explore new perspectives and options to improve their relationships. I utilise a compassionate-focussed approach that helps people to cultivate kindness towards themselves and others, leading to improved communication, restored connections and stronger relationships.

Work with families may also include some brief work with parents and carers as I provide counselling to young people. I work in a systemic way, often inviting parents and carers into parts of my work with young people where appropriate, which can greatly enhance the therapy.

I take young people's mental health seriously, and I know you are concerned about it too.  If your adolescent child is coming along for individual sessions, I won’t leave you out of the loop. I will be clear with everyone about confidentiality and boundaries and how these work to ensure everyone knows where the information goes and how any risks are ethically and professionally managed.

The most precious gift we can offer others is our presence.  When our mindfulness embraces those we love, they will bloom like flowers.
